Final Program and Registration Reminder: Portage and RDM in Canada, September 18, 2017, Montreal, QC

The final program for Portage and Research Data Management in Canada has been released. This event is being held on Monday, September 18, 2017 in conjunction with the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in Montreal, Quebec.

Limited registration is still available for the three sessions making up this event.

The day of activities begins with a morning keynote address discussing data policy in Canada from funding agency and researcher perspectives. Expect to be challenged with propositions about how the mandate for research data management in Canada will be shaped by national policy and what this will mean for researchers and those providing RDM support for researchers. Following this opening presentation will be a panel discussion of the Portage Council of Chairs describing how the work of their expert groups are helping advance RDM in Canada and contributing to the development of a community of practice.

For those interested in this event but who are unable to attend in person, the morning session will be livestreamed from 9:00AM – 12:00 PM at the following link:

In the afternoon, two workshops are being offered:

Portage and Data Management Plans in Canada: The Policies, Templates, and Platform
This workshop will provide an overview of data management plans and their value to researchers and those involved in providing research services on campus. Practical instruction on the use of the Portage Data Stewardship template and the online DMP Assistant platform will be provided.

Portage Supported Research Data Management Platforms
This workshop will provide an overview of Portage-supported RDM platforms with an examination of the Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR) and Dataverse. This will allow participants to review key considerations and opportunities for integrating these platforms into local data services.

Participants will be required to register in advance. The registration form is accessible at the following link:
