OTTAWA, ONTARIO, June 05, 2017 – The Leadership Council for Digital Research Infrastructure (LCDRI) Data Management Working Group has held monthly meetings since January 2017 to prepare for the upcoming National LCDRI Summit in Toronto, ON, scheduled June 27th 2017. A position paper on digital research infrastructure in Canada will be discussed at the Summit, after which the LCDRI will present a final version containing recommendations to Minister Duncan of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development. Data management is one of the key components of digital research infrastructure described in this report. To date, this group has helped define the properties making up data management, developed commonly accepted terms and definitions for data management, and described key data management functions and organizational roles to identify potential gaps and opportunities within the current Canadian system.
