The New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO)’s Portage Network and Compute Canada (CC) are collaborating to provide a scalable, bilingual, federated platform for digital research data management (RDM) and discovery.
The Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR) is designed to address a longstanding gap in Canada’s research infrastructure by providing researchers with a robust repository option into which large research datasets can be ingested, curated, processed for preservation, discovered, cited, and shared.
The FRDR Discovery Portal enables discovery of and access to Canadian research data, while FRDR’s repository services will help researchers store and manage their data, preserve their research for future use, and comply with institutional and funding agency data management requirements.
Scholars Portal Dataverse is a data repository provided by Scholars Portal on behalf of participating Canadian university libraries. Started in 2012, the platform is supported by data experts within the library community and beyond.
Researchers can use Dataverse to find, explore, visualize, deposit, and publish their data. Users can create robust metadata, track changes across versions of their datasets, mint Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), and make data open or restricted. Dataverse enables collaborative data management with granular permissions settings that allow multiple users to edit datasets throughout the deposit workflow.
Dataverse is an open-source repository software developed by the Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences (IQSS) at Harvard University, with contributors and adopters across Canada and the world.
